I would love to have one more day with my dad who passed away in June last year (2019) just as Charley Benetto aka Chick did get one more day with his Mum; definitely not in the same circumstances though.
I had read "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom a long time ago and in fact was looking for my copy when I chanced upon this book in my book shelf. I am not sure how this book landed in my shelf. Its probably from my sister's collection or from a friend's collection. I am glad I found it.
This is a story that talks about the relationship of a son and his mother. A story that brings out the selfless, unconditional love of a mother for her son. A story where a mother lives her life with dignity and poise. A story where a son displays his vulnerabilities and talks about times when his mother stood up to him and times when he didn't stand upto her. A story where this son shares about the complexities of his relationship with his father.
A story where a son realizes how precious life is. "I had no one to talk me out of my despair, and that was a mistake. You need to keep people close. You need to give them access to your heart." says this son when he ends his story.
Most importantly, it is a story that tell us that our loved ones are watching us and are feeling our joys, our pain and everything we go through even if they are no longer living in this world. They wish the best for us - all the time.
There is so much to learn from this story. I do hope to write more about everything that touched me while reading it. I would love to hear what people who have read this book felt? What touched them the most? What were their insights? How did it change their life?
